Nth Cycle is one of the most inspiring climate companies we’ve partnered with. They are an industry-leader in an important behind-the-scenes process: refining critical metals. Their Co-Founder and CEO Megan O’Connor invented tech that sustainably recovers minerals, so we don’t have to mine as many fresh from the ground, and don’t have to create further environmental damage during recovery. Nth helps us reuse metals from places like depleted batteries to put them back into use in electric vehicles and solar panels—hello circularity!
Megan was named to TIME’s Top 100 most influential climate leaders in business and the company has been featured in Vanity Fair, TechCrunch, Reuters, and the BBC, among others. With another round of funding secured, they came to us looking for support to refresh the website with a more modern, refined look.

We had worked on Nth Cycle’s initial brand back in 2021. At that time, we created the company’s logo, visual identity, and a brand book in a sprint fashion. As they grew, the brand was implemented by various people resulting in a look and messaging that didn’t feel as consistent or current as it should. They also wanted help translating their technical, complex solution into a light, compelling story to a larger audience. Nth Cycle was excited to get their brand refreshed and their website updated in time for the ribbon-cutting ceremony of their new commercial production site for partners in Ohio.
We worked collaboratively to clarify and strengthen the messaging, building on existing content strategy work to create more compelling website copy. For the website design, we decided to create an editorial feel and messaging-first standpoint. We took the company’s focus on clean energy and refining metals, and reflected that abstractly in the design concept. We also used beautiful satellite images of the earth, including copper mines, to help tell the big picture story. For innovative technical solutions, a visualisation is often more effective than words, so we teamed up to script and deliver custom animations that clearly laid out Nth’s impact in the world.
Nth Cycle’s new website launched in time for their ribbon-cutting and Megan shared some early responses to the work. “Looks like a stunning magazine!” was just one loving description. More importantly, the website accomplished what we hoped it would. Visitors were encouraged to read and learn more about what Nth Cycle does. They could more easily understand the problem with the way critical metals are currently refined, and see how Nth fits into the solution. Overall, our collaborative efforts paid off. We were so happy to be able to continue to support this amazing company at a critical juncture.
